I wrote about this earlier, and now it’s officially released! Kaloki Adventures has made its way to the iPhone App Store, and is now on sale until Friday. It’s a sweet game of resource management with a side of zany humor.
I was one of the artists for this game, which is technically a port of the earlier XBox Live title Outpost Kaloki X. It was a fair bit of work to port it, and we describe it a bit on the company blog here (I wrote the art part):
It’s on sale, it’s cheap, it’s good, and there’s a demo. If you have an iPhone, please check it out!
Congrats on the port!
I actually bought Outpost Kaloki for the PC and had a lot of fun with it. I STILL haven’t finished it though. Thanks for the reminder for that, and I’ll download the demo for sure! (Love payment options!)
I still don’t really play games on my iPhone, but who knows, maybe this is the one =)
If I *had* an iPhone, it would be a game I’d have. It’s more interesting than another match 3 clone, and it’s a relatively “light attention” game, in that you have periods of waiting for things to happen. It’s not a twitch game, in other words, and when I’m playing casually on the bus or something, it’s nice to know that there are very few times in the game that shifting my attention elsewhere for a bit isn’t going to break anything, and may indeed wind up being good, as my well-planned station accrues some cash for me.
Glad you like it! And with a free demo with a handful of fairly representative levels, it’s pretty harmless to try out.
Oh, and while there is just the demo and the Adventure game out at the moment, we’ll be releasing a War story and a Love story here in a bit.
The War story introduces combat expansions (guns) and enemy attackers (meaning station defense is another layer on top of keeping the thing running and profitable), and the Love story is designed more for those who want a story in the game, with multiple outcomes and fun characters. I like each of them for different reasons, but I’ll admit that the Love Story one is my favorite.
