Great post! =)
I always tried to define the 3 main roles of the MMO in terms of 'time' for myself - understanding the healer as the one who 'grants time' really, the players that allows an encounter to last for as long as he can maintain the life of the raid (through his manapool).
tanks are the ones that 'initiate time', making the encounter possible at all. and the DPS are those that will actually determine the end of the encounter, the ones that define its length and speed (staged/phased fights aside) - thus somehow being hmm...the 'time cutters' maybe? u can see, I haven't quite figured this out yet, still need to work on a more elaborate explanation! ;D

Haha, this is great!

I was coughing and falling over in a fever during our Thanksgiving meal, so I didn't get any conversation time at all, and now that I think of it, I can't even remember the last time I sat down with a group around the table and had a real discussion about anything. I live with my 3-year-old, and conversation at our meals is almost entirely composed of an attempt to get him to eat something...ANYthing!

I still love the post. And last night I was playing WoW and noticed that you get burned even 5 feet away from those darn fires. And we should count ourselves lucky they don't behave as such in the real world.

ROFL, great stuff :) Particularly liked the Death Knight description.

It's funny cause I'm not sure which category I fall into in real life. I'm a true blood tank/Warrior in all of my MMOs and I suppose it's describes me the best in RL too :P

This post is HILARIOUS! And so awesomely accurate. People are fascinating! Observing social interaction is something I never really lose interest in.

Oh, and "Desserts are a powerful wildcard in the healer’s arsenal, and many healers will come prepared with a wide assortment" made me laugh so hard! It is so, so true though. There are very few confrontations that can't be solved with brownies. ;)

Trench coats are very useful in social situations. If nothing else, pockets are valuable, as is the element of surprise. :) I love that Hyperbole and a Half blog.

Not sure what to think about your class corruption. Maybe pretentious piety just doesn't pay all that well? ;)
