Since this month’s art challenge at work was built on pop culture references, I couldn’t resist coming up with something out of left field. I’ve not seen the Sucker Punch movie, and I probably won’t (bordello-based grrrl power doesn’t interest me, though some of the movie looks pretty awesome), so naturally, I had to build around a different kind of chick.
It may not be anything new from a game artist, but this was a lot of fun to draw and paint. It even made my wife laugh, so that alone makes it worth doing.

Entirely unrealistic and implausible! How does it throw without slashing itself in the process? How has it not tipped over, unless the ‘blade’ is in fact not metal but plastic foam? It is unacceptable to suspend reality in favor of making an awesome drawing.

Let me tell you I prefer watching this for 2 hours than the 2 hours I lost seeing Suckerpunch… The movie is just an actionfest without story, or even cool punchlines :/.
I’m pretty sure it would have been better as 13 episodes of 45 minutes. Here, it feels rushed…
