Because sure I ignore that central structure and mess around and do other stuff. But eventually I want to just finish and not just throw a dart at a dartboard full of win condition idea post it notes as to how to finish.

The leveling and loot facilitate that, but mean little to me beyond expanded access to new places in the game. Getting Flight Form was the single biggest achievement in the game for me. (Aside from learning Alt-Z to hide the UI for screenshots, I guess.) I still have a lot of places to see, but it’s kinda nice to say “I finished Uldum and got some good shots. Moving on to the next place”.
