First, the treat:
(Yes, it’s actually a sneak preview of the book I’m illustrating for my mother. Way too much going on, and we wanted to have it done by now, but we’re angling for Christmas completion instead. Life does that sometimes.)
And then the trick: A Puzzle Pirates thread from a while back where I show my “tricks of the trade” for how I do this sort of thing. I’ve linked to this before, I think, but it fits nicely here as well. One day, I’ll do another one of these for a piece that I’m working on for the book.
Yes, this is a bit late for Halloween, but when you move to a new house and your internet connection gets lost in the aether, schedules tend to go out the window.
ZOMG that cat is beyond cute! Very nicely done!
kawaiiiiii (cuuuute!)
WTB artistic talent!
You obviously have it. Nice to see some of your work.
Wow. That’s adorable. Very nice work indeed.
🙂 Glad ye like it! There will be more of these to come when I can carve out the time for them.
Oh, but in the meantime, for those of you who are Hugh Laurie or Stephen Fry fans and who lived through Trick or Treating, this might tickle a funny bone:
How To Deal With Trick Or Treat Kids
That’s an awesome cat 🙂 If I ever win the Euro-Millions lottery and get enough money to fund my own MMORPG development, I’d be honoured if you lead the art team 🙂
Digital treats have zero calories!
Otherwise it would be a sugar bomb! 🙂
Awesome job! That’s an awesome skill and talent you have there. I hope you all the best with the illustration.
ZOMGCUUUUUUTE!!! My son just LOVES the drawing!
VERY cool, Tesh. I wish I had your skills.
Cheers for the advice on the Wacom Bamboo tablets in the ‘Tech and Tips’ section. I didn’t know about it before it and it seems more affordable than Adobe version. I’m guessing it makes a big difference over using just a mouse.
Nice art btw 😉
Gordon/Spitfire, I’d be honored! I’m not as good with zombies, though. 😉
Thanks, all! *gets back to work*
Oh, and Crimson? A tablet makes a world of difference. The Bamboo is a great little product from what I understand (Wacom does it right), and if you’re really serious about computer art, working with a mouse is like trying to do an oil painting with a broomstick. You can do it, but it’s absolutely not worth the pain and lack of control.
Good advice. I’ve been messing around with Photoshop lately, but only really web page design. I want to eventually do my own drawings and Photoshop them up, but didn’t want to fork out the cash for the Adobe tablet thingy. Wacom have beginners graphic tablets for $150 AU which is affordable for what I want to do with it. Will let you know how it goes.
Cheers again.
Completely adorable!
Looks great dude! Have you thought about adding a virtual portfolio to this blog?
I have, and I’ve thought about setting up a portfolio sister site. In the meantime, there’s this:
Mini Portfolio
Yes, at some point, I’ll make something a bit more presentable as a portfolio. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂
Wow, great job. I can just see the cat thinking “IM IN UR BASKET EATIN UR CANDIES.”
[…] 11, 2010 by Tesh I’m still working on the cat illustrations. Here are some quick critters I pulled out of the sketchbook. As usual, the links lead to BIG […]
